A DAF is a giving account you set up through a sponsoring organization, such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab, Vanguard, or many others. You contribute assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time.

DAFs offer immediate tax advantages, flexibility in timing your donations, and a simple way to support nonprofits from one account. You can also grow your charitable assets tax-free while deciding where to give.

You cannot use DAFs for personal benefit, such as tickets to fundraising events or gifts with a benefit. Also, don’t expect the DAF to share your contact information unless you opt in; please notify Seeds for a Future so we can properly acknowledge that we’ve received your gift.

DAFs are meant for active giving, not indefinite holding. Making grants now puts your charitable dollars to work supporting causes you care about today, when they’re needed most.

Yes. Most DAF providers allow you to give anonymously if you choose. But if you’d like to be thanked or receive updates, make sure to include your name and contact information with your grant.
