# Seeds for a Future: Food Security and Nutrition Solutions > Seeds for a Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 41-2206020) founded in 2009 in Chocolá, Guatemala. We provide year-long training in sustainable food production, nutrition, health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and microbusiness development to rural families facing chronic malnutrition and food insecurity in Guatemala. Since 2009, nearly 6,000 families across 21 communities in 8 Guatemalan states have participated in the Program, benefiting over 36,000 individuals. An independent randomized controlled trial by the Institute for Nutrition in Central America and Panama (INCAP), funded by the Nestlé Foundation of Switzerland, documented a 90% reduction in childhood anemia rates — from 47% to under 5% — among participating families (2014–2017). It was the first integrated health, nutrition, and agriculture project to demonstrate positive outcomes in biochemical biomarkers in women and children. Our proven, low-cost, locally led, modular model is designed to be replicated in rural food-insecure communities globally.
